Marineland Antibes has finally shut down. With the facility now being permanently closed, the question is, what will happen to the dolphins and remaining two orcas, Wikie, 23, and her 11-year-old son Keijo. In December 2024, Dolphinaria-Free Europe wrote to the French Minister, once again urging her to consider a sanctuary as a realistic option, rather than place them in another captive facility, however, they have now ruled out an application made to transfer the two orcas to a sanctuary in Canada, and instead appear to be favouring the orcas be sent to Loro Parque, Tenerife. We strongly oppose this option and will continue to find a better alternative for Wikie and Keijo.
