Shocking news from Canada

Marineland in Niagara Falls, Canada has faced longstanding scrutiny over animal welfare, and at least 20 whales (mostly belugas, plus one orca) have died there since 2019. The park has said it is in a “critical financial state” and claims it cannot afford ongoing care and feeding of their remaining 30 beluga whales, and has reportedly warned that it may need to euthanise the animals unless the Canadian federal government steps in with emergency support.
